This is the day that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in Him. Today (27 July) is the day I got baptised a year ago. So I am effectively 1 year old in my new Spirit today. I was prompted by the Holy Spirit in at the start 2008 to be baptised. At that stage I did not belong to any church and did not quite understand how and where God intended for me to be baptised. All I knew is that I must be baptised just like John the Baptist has done with Jesus Christ. I also knew that I had to obey the instruction of God, so I trusted Him to open up doors for me.
My walk with the Lord was by grace and His love for me. God was forever faithful and my nature was a nature of sinful ways and I could even justify my sinful life as it was clear that God loves me. However, the Holy Spirit wanted me to become Christ like. For that I had to turn to God and accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour. I had to repent of my sins and turn to God to be forgiven (Mark 1:4).
Let me tell you how it happened that I got baptised.
Incidentally on this day is also my sister’s (Chantal) birthday and she was scheduled to be baptised on her birthday last year – and her and her husband invited me to witness her baptism. I was so excited for my sister and in their church (Ocean View - Baptist) I worshiped God with abandon that morning. It is not my regular church even though I knew 80% of the congregation in one way or the other. The Holy Spirit was present and there was no denying that as I sang along with my hands up in the air in surrender to my Heavenly King.
“Now it is time to baptise our baptismal candidates”: announced the pastor. Oh how my heart was filled with joy for my sister as she gave her testimony of how she came the decision to be baptised this morning. The others too gave their testimonies and pastor led his flock to the pool. This was such a profound moment and I truly felt honoured to witness my sister dying her old self and emerging a new creation. Glory, Praise and Honour be to God. Sanna (Chantal) is my pillar of strength and her ways in life brings me great joy. She was the first to do many things in my family. She is the tip of a moral life in our family and I love her deeply. Happy (double) Birthday today my sis!
Anyway – as the last one was baptised and left the baptismal pool, the Pastor (Jeremy Koeries aka JK) said: “while I’m still in here, is there anyone else that wants to get baptised?” Say what? My heart started racing a hundred and plenty beats per second. He repeated himself and I am led to a twilight state of mind. My body goes numb as the Holy Spirit starts to work in me. Yes you guess correctly! It was my turn. Involuntarily I raise my hand (I remember this as if it just happened a moment ago) and he (JK) looks me straight in the eye and asks me if I am sure. I remember thinking NO! But I shook my head and a faint yes came out my mouth as my whole body trembled. The church (congregation of whom 80% know me in some way or the other) went loud in shouts of encouragement for me. I was overcome with so much joy and disbelief and went off to change in my baptism attire (which they happen to have there) so I too can get into the pool to be made a new man. Right there and then I gave my testimony as to how it came about and I made a declaration of faith and my confession of sin. Now I am a new man, united with Christ, dressed in Christ just like the word says in Galatians 3:27. I am now a part of the promise God made to Abraham. I am redeemed. I am saved. My salvation is guaranteed. Thank you Lord!
I can still here the applause and the shouts of joy and encouragement of the faithful saints the morning of 27 July 2008. As the sermon continued, I sat in the pews with an eternal grin on my face and Pastor called up one of the visiting Elders of the Baptist Church. She was the Widow of JK’s senior Pastor and a mentor of his wife and him. The elder was clearly a charismatic leader by the way she spoke. She said something (regarding the spontaneous and unscheduled baptism of myself and the others that followed suit) that will always ring aloud in my head. She said: “What happened here today may be seen as out of order by some, but it is done by God’s order.”
I remember thinking – thank you Lord for your order. Thank you Jeremy (as I truly know Pastor Koeries) for being obedient to the Lord as Paul instructs us to be in Romans 16:17-20. If JK did not do his Pastoral duty and obey the call of the Holy Spirit that morning, my life may not have changed as radical is it did this day. Thank you Pastor for Baptising me, thank you Sanna and Wayne for inviting me to what was meant to be your special day. Happy Birthday sis. I love you and I pray for you and your husband daily and I trust and believe faithfully that God has great things in store for you.
Happy Birthday to me! I am celebrating a year of amazing Grace! Thank you Aba Father for saving my Soul. Praise be to Jehova Maccaddeshem!

Praying in Faith
For a while now I have sensed that I should start praying in faith. I was not sure what it meant to have faith, none the less pray in faith.
What is faith?

The truth about God’s word is that it does not lie. The problem with us is, we want to be God instead of learning to become like Him.
I will learn to start praying in faith, speaking in faith and living in faith. In the name of Jesus! For God is faithful!

What is faith?
Faith is believing that God has the power to give me what I need.
Faith is knowing that all things are possible through Him who strengthens me.
Faith is resting assured that God is taking care of me, if I allow Him to be Lord of my life.
Faith is taking my burdens to the cross and expecting Him to deal with it and believing the results are of and from Him.
Faith is knowing that all things are possible through Him who strengthens me.
Faith is resting assured that God is taking care of me, if I allow Him to be Lord of my life.
Faith is taking my burdens to the cross and expecting Him to deal with it and believing the results are of and from Him.
Mark 11:20-24
20 And as they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up. 21 And being reminded, Peter *said to Him, "Rabbi, behold, the fig tree which You cursed has withered." 22 And Jesus *answered saying to them, "Have faith in God. 23 "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him. 24 "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they shall be granted you."
He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for me. The least I can do is rest assured that my life is in His hands.
When we give a problem to the Lord, we must relinquish the grip and hold of that problem completely if we want God to take proper care of that problem. It’s like a story I once heard:
When a child has a broken toy, he takes it to his dad (or mom) and asks them to fix it. Unless that child gives the toy to his parent completely, the parent cannot fix that toy. Imagine giving a broken shoe to a cobbler, asking him to fix it for you, yet you hold on to that broken shoe. How is the cobbler going to fix it?
The same it is with our problems and burdens. Unless we completely give it unto Him, we cannot expect it to be dealt with. We must allow God to be God. Too often we interfere with God and His work, yet we expect optimal results when we pray.
I am now learning to pray in faith. I am learning to trust in God completely and to give Him my troubles and burdens completely for Him to fix for me. Just like Proverbs 3:5-6 remind us “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”

Proverbs 2
The Pursuit of Wisdom Brings Security
1 My son, if you will receive my wordsAnd treasure my commandments within you, 2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom,Incline your heart to understanding; 3 For if you cry for discernment,Lift your voice for understanding; 4 If you seek her as silverAnd search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will discern the fear of the LORDAnd discover the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, 8 Guarding the paths of justice,And He preserves the way of His godly ones. 9 Then you will discern righteousness and justiceAnd equity and every good course. 10 For wisdom will enter your heartAnd knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; 11 Discretion will guard you,Understanding will watch over you, 12 To deliver you from the way of evil,From the man who speaks perverse things; 13 From those who leave the paths of uprightnessTo walk in the ways of darkness; 14 Who delight in doing evilAnd rejoice in the perversity of evil; 15 Whose paths are crooked,And who are devious in their ways; 16 To deliver you from the strange woman,From the adulteress who flatters with her words; 17 That leaves the companion of her youthAnd forgets the covenant of her God; 18 For her house sinks down to deathAnd her tracks lead to the dead; 19 None who go to her return again,Nor do they reach the paths of life. 20 So you will walk in the way of good menAnd keep to the paths of the righteous. 21 For the upright will live in the landAnd the blameless will remain in it; 22 But the wicked will be cut off from the landAnd the treacherous will be uprooted from it.

Desiderata
I was feeling very down today and my friend Dimitri Allastair Veldkornet sent me this to pep me up.
Thanx Dimi
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrenderbe on good terms with all persons.Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant;they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.Exercise caution in your business affairs;for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;many persons strive for high ideals;and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.Especially, do not feign affection.Neither be cynical about love;for in the face of all aridity and disenchantmentit is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.Beyond a wholesome discipline,be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,no less than the trees and the stars;you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,whatever you conceive Him to be,and whatever your labors and aspirations,in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,it is still a beautiful world.Be cheerful.Strive to be happy.

Three strong messages from the Lord.
1) So says the Lord, look away from yourself.
Do not always complain about yourself so.
I have forgiven you all your sins and misdeeds.
I have had mercy on you.
I understand you.
Rejoice because you are alive.
Rejoice in all that I have given you.
Enjoy the moments.
Wait for my intervention, for my action for my hour (my time)I am your true help and
your provider.
Do not cling to human beings.
Cling much more to me instead.
Listen to me.
2) Thus says the Lord "do not be sad about your past, about your failures.
Your enemy paints you a grim picture.
Look at your life in my light, from the point of view of my word, from my enlightenment
and revelations
Look unto me and not to your needs.
Your needs will not save you.
Your fears will not help you.
Your questions will not answer you.
Clothe your cares in thanksgiving.
Give your life a new coating, new colors, new enhancements .
My Spirit will help you straighten out your life, and set you on your feet again.
Keep a cool head in all of this, and stay very sober.
Do not allow yourself to be manipulated.
Do not tell everyone everything you know.
Keep secrets to yourself".
3) Thus says the Lord, "I want to multiply you.
I want to multiply your faith, your strength, your patience, your love.
I want to make your more glorious than ever.
The enemy wants to hurt you, make you fall, and ruin you.
You allow him too much room in your lives.
Do not listen to him.
Do not give him any room, no foothold in your lives.
Resist him steadfastly by my word.
Tell him what I say and think about him.
Remind him of his end.
Tell him where he belongs.
My words are your really effective weapon.
Your victories are determined above - in the unseen world - before my throne.
Be sure of your salvation

I got this by email from my best friend – Eddie – and decided to share it with you so it is posted as I received it. Enjoy the profound truths spoke by one of my champions.

Hater/ By Maya Angelou A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look small so they can look tall. They are very negative people to say the least. Nothing is ever good enough!
When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters...
That's why you have to be careful with whom you share your blessings and your dreams, because some folk can't handle seeing you blessed... It's dangerous to be like somebody else... If God wanted you to be like somebody else, He would have given you what He gave them! Right? You never know what people have gone through to get what they have... The problem I have with haters is that they see my glory, but they don't know my story... If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too! We've all got some haters among us!
Some people envy you because you can:
a) Have a relationship with God
b) Light up a room when you walk in
c) Start your own business
d) Tell a man / woman to hit the curb (if he / she isn't about the right thing)
e) Raise your children without both parents being in the home
Haters can't stand to see you happy. Haters will never want to see you succeed. Most of our haters are people who are supposed to be on our side. How do you handle your undercover haters? You can handle these haters by:
1. Knowing who you are & who your true friends are *(VERY IMPORTANT!!)
2. Having a purpose to your life: Purpose does not mean having a job. You can have a job and still be unfulfilled. A purpose is having a clear sense of what God has called you to be. Your purpose is not defined by what others think about you.
3. By remembering what you have is by divine prerogative and not human manipulation. Fulfill your dreams! You only have one life to live...when its your time to leave this earth, you 'want' to be able to say, 'I've lived my life and fulfilled 'my' dreams,... Now I'm ready to go HOME!
When God gives you favor, you can tell your haters, 'Don't look at me....Look at Who is in charge of me...'

Why and How Should We FAST
We should fast because it makes us more God conscious. It builds spiritual character and makes us stronger in defence against the enemy.
In Luke 4:2 it says that Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights and then further in Luke 4:4 Jesus tells the enemy; “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God!
Deuteronomy 8:2-3 (New International Version)
2 Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
In Joel 2:12 it is said that the Lord wants us to turn to Him in fasting and weeping and mourning. This will reveal God’s presence in our lives to us and help us walk closer to the Lord. God wants us – His children, He’s creations to become and remain humble. Humility is good for the spirit; good for the soul; good for our being.
So; fasting means that we should abstain from food and drink for a period of time. Fasting is in place of ancient sacrificial burnt offerings. We should not only abstain from food when we fast though. We should think of sacrificing other things we hold near and dear to us – for example TV, purchasing lavish goods, eating exotic/extravagant meals when we break our fast, etc. This gives us a spirit of thankfulness and appreciation for what we have when we do enjoy it. It re-emphasises the point of humility too.
Fasting the right way and for the right reasons could also be beneficial in helping us cleanse the body of toxins. It can even help us lose weight and rest the digestive track. Through fasting for the Lord we could also eradicate chronic fatigue, improve sleeping at night and help slow down the aging process.
Of course there are many pro’s and con’s to fasting. The most important factor that goes with fasting is of course PRAYER!
Never can we expect to fast successfully without entering into humble plead with the LORD for strength and perseverance through prayer. When we pray we also establish contact with God which ultimately strengthens our relationship with our provider.
Make time to pray – the rewards are priceless.
Amen

Being a Christian
What does being a REBORN Christian me to me?
John 8:12 “Jesus Spoke to the people once more and said; ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have light that leads your life.”
I was born into a family and home within the Christian denomination going to a mainstream church. Apparently I was baptised as a baby shortly after my birth because this was a requirement by the dogma my mother was brought up in. So I was always a Christian by birth.
Being a reborn Christian however is a different matter all together. As I’ve read the Bible I have learned that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Christ is Lord. I have further learned that Jesus Christ was sent to die for my (and yours – if you believe) sins. As time went I encountered the Holy Spirit as it was revealed to me. So I made a personal decision to follow Jesus’ way of life and I made a public declaration of my commitment and got baptised as an adult – just like Jesus did. This means that I endeavour to live obedient to God’s expectations of us as I understand it. It also means that I now have a personal relationship with my creator and the creator of heaven and earth.
Why have I decided to become reborn?
John 6:35 “Jesus replied; ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.”
As I’ve read the Bible I have learned that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Christ is Lord. I have further learned that Jesus Christ was sent to die for my (and your – if you believe) sins. So if this man sent by the All Mighty God did this for me, I owe Him some loyalty I think. I’ve also read so much about the kind and miraculous deeds He performed during His time here on earth. Now there’s a mentor if ever I needed one.
How did I become a Christian?
John 3:27” No one can receive anything unless God gives it from Heaven”.
As time went I encountered the Holy Spirit as it was revealed to me. So I made a personal decision to follow Jesus’ way of life and I made a public declaration of my commitment and got baptised as an adult – just like Jesus did. Now I live my life with the aim to abandon deliberate sinful ways.
Is there a hell and judgement day?
John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
I don’t know, because I have not experienced it yet. However I will try to the best of my ability to live as if there is, because I don’t want to live as if there isn’t and find out that there is.
Am I a Gay Christian?
Romans 3:23 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standards”
Yes!
...but the Bible says in...
Yes I know what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:9
and 1 Timothy 1:10
It kinda includes mre than just a whole lot of us doesn’t it? The only thing is I do not choose to be homosexual – but I do choose to follow God.
